3 ways to plant trees when you travel

Sustainability is one of our core values at Huckleberry Travel. We use a portion of our fees to calculate and pay for a carbon offset for our clients’ travels. We partner with suppliers that prioritize protecting the environment. And we look for ways to support causes we believe in with our HbT Gives Back initiatives.

When our preferred supplier partners launch efforts to support sustainability, it definitely piques our interest. So, we thought we’d use our website to give shout outs to three suppliers that have created tree-planting programs. After all, planting trees is one of the most significant thing we can do to support the health of our planet.

Trees that Count

Trees that Count is a non-profit organization that has teamed up with Tourism New Zealand to re-forest one of the most exciting destinations we’ve ever booked. With just a $7 donation, you can plant a a native tree in a region of New Zealand that you, yourself, can choose.

Plant for the Planet

Lately we’ve been booking many of our clients at luxury hotel properties that are part of Accor Hotel Group, including Fairmont, Sofitel, Raffles, SLS and Swissôtel properties. But the reason we love those brands isn’t only that so many of them participate in our Virtuoso hotel program (though, we do love that about them), but they also let guests to their hotels pick a preferred agroforestry project, and to track the progress of their chosen project online with photos and videos. More than 7 million trees have already been planted!

Fill Before You Fly

For every passenger who packs a reusable water bottle and shows pics on social media with @AlaksaAir and #fillbeforeyoufly tags, Alaska Airlines will plant a tree on the West Coast of the United States. You don’t even have to buy a plane ticket. Just post on your social account! That’s it!
