We recently took a (virtual) meeting with one of the stunning resorts in our Virtuoso “Best of the Best” hotel program — the Waldorf-Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. And after just a few minutes on a Zoom call with our representative, we were so excited to share this property with you, we had to post about it right away.

The Arrival Experience. 

As soon as you walk out of the airport luggage claim, you’ll be greeted by the airport concierge team, who will whisk you away to a luxury yacht. The resort is only a short 40- to 45-minute luxury yacht journey from Velana International Airport. The resort has a fleet of 7 yachts, which are at least 54 feet long and 2 stories high, offering ample space for our clients to keep their social distance. In addition, the yachts all have at least three bedrooms in case you want to rest after a long flight (though you might think about breaking up the flight with a stopover in Dubai). Once onboard you’ll be served champagne, beverages, and canapés.

Culinary Experiences. 

The resort offers 11 unique culinary experiences for your guests including an intimate treetop dining experience, at Terra. Other restaurants include Yasmeen (Arabic), Shimizu (Japanese), Tasting Table (international), Li Long (Mandarin), The Rock (degustation and wine pairing), NAVA (Beach Club), The Ledge by Dave Pynt (Australian grill by Michelin Star Chef Dave Pynt), Glow (Healthy & Organic), Amber (Sunset bar), and Peacock Alley (International Lounge). Even though they have many options for guests, they offer limited capacities in every restaurant to ensure intimacy and privacy is guaranteed for all guests.

Accommodations. 

Every villa at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi offers a private infinity pool, in-water lounges, dining gazebos and swing day beds. You can have your over-water experience, but if you’d prefer to be on dry land, with direct beach access, that’s possible, too! But in addition to their villas, the resort also offers two unique Stella Maris Ocean Villas. These Villas are located away from the main resort and only accessible by boat, perfect for a romantic getaway. The resort has a dedicated pontoon that can bring guests back and forth to the main resort, but with a spacious living room, private infinity pool, over-water hammocks, and a BBQ station with a private chef in the villa. You might never want to leave.
