a resort that's doing it the right way

With last week’s sudden news about new testing requirements for entry into the US — including for US residents who are coming home — resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, which had been relatively easy hassle-free getaways, suddenly were scrambling to adapt.

Almost immediately, we started hearing from many of our preferred resort partners that they were prepared to provide pre-departure testing to guests, so that they could return home without incident.

With most resorts now offering concierge on-site testing for guests — including many resorts providing the test for free, one resort in particular seems to really have their act together.

The Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is not only among those resorts that is performing antigen tests for COVID-19 on site at the resort, but they’ve also taken measures to deal with the possibility that a guest might be unable to travel if they test positive.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya has an exclusive area on the property for guests to quarantine. For the safety of their staff and other guests, guests testing positive will have to remain in the assigned room until they test negative. Room service will be available for meals. Alcohol will be suspended during the confinement.

And the cost if you have to quarantine? The quarantine period is complimentary for up to 14 nights in one of their Deluxe Jr. Suites (for travel until March 31st, 2021).

While Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya is being very proactive about getting the word out, we have to tell you — they’re not the only resort we’ve heard from this week. As we said — nearly every other resort has on-site testing, many others have made arrangements to allow guests to quarantine on property, and, of course, we’re always making sure that our clients know about the availability of travel insurance that includes emergency medical coverage.
