supporting relief for ukraine
Violence is having a devastating impact on the children of Ukraine. Over 7.5 million children are being affected by the war. Children are being forced into bomb shelters and basements, have had to travel to the border — sometimes alone — to escape the bombing of their homes. Schools and hospitals for children have been bombed. And children have been killed.
That’s why Huckleberry Travel will be making a donation to Save the Children’s Ukrainian Crisis Relief Fund for every new trip that is booked to Europe. to Save the Children’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund supports humanitarian programs aiming to reach 3.5 million children and their families with immediate aid and recovery such as food, water, hygiene kits and dignity kids, psychosocial support, safe spaces and cash assistance.
If you’d like to support relief for Ukraine, we strongly recommend that you donate to a reputable relief organization, like Save the Children, UNICEF, the International Red Cross, or the International Rescue Committee. We’ve seen reports that people are booking Airbnb rentals in Ukraine, thinking that those funds will go directly to people affected by the violence. We have a strong view that this is not a good way to help people in Ukraine. As we’ve noted, before, Airbnb and VRBO do not verify or vet their listings. Case in point. You have no way of knowing who’s actually getting that money — except for Airbnb, which takes a portion of that money.
