hotel obsession: waldorf-astoria new york

We had the honor of doing a hardhat tour of one of New York City's most historic and iconic hotels, recently. We weren’t allowed to take photos, but let’s just say - the newly-restored Waldorf-Astoria will be spectacular when it opens in September, 2025, after being closed i for eight years.

This week, the Waldorf Astoria announced that it has begun accepting reservations! Since the hotel is going down to only 375 rooms (prior to the renovation, there were over 1,000), we won’t be surprised if it’s sold out more often than not.

The Waldorf Astoria opened at its current location in 1931; previous iterations of the hotel were located on Fifth Avenue in the 1890s. When we took our hard-hat tour, we learned about the legacy of the hotel, including the celebrities who lived there, like Grace Kelly, Marilyn. Monroe and Frank Sinatra. The hotel was also home to Cole Porter for many years — the hotel gave him a grand piano as a gift, and after his death, the family gifted it back to the hotel. We saw it on our tour, and were told that we could play it, if we wanted to! (We didn’t dare.)

Would you like to be among the first to stay at the Waldorf-Astoria when it re-opens? Since we’re a Hilton Luxury Agency, our clients get VIP Amenities when they stay at Waldorf-Astoria properties, including:

  • Best available rates

  • VIP guest status

  • Complimentary breakfast for 2 guests

  • $100 USD hotel credit per stay (or local equivalent)

  • Double Hilton Honors Points

  • Last room availability

  • Upgrade to next room category (subject to availability)

We’ve been in close contact with the Waldorf-Astoria, and we’re eager to share this stunning icon of New York City with our clients. Reach out, if you’d like us to book your stay!
