new entry requirements for europe
The big news last week was that the United States has been moved off of the “safe” list by the European Union. Does that mean that you can’t travel to Europe? Not necessarily. Because each country in the European Union sets its own entry requirements, there’s now a patchwork of protocols in effect. And sorting through all of that can be a real challenge.
In some cases, unvaccinated travelers will not be permitted to travel at all. But for vaccinated travelers, each country has slightly different requirements. Italy is requiring proof of a negative test within 72 hours of arrival, even if you’re vaccinated. The Netherlands are requiring a quarantine for vaccinated travelers, but one which you can test out of after a few days. Spain is requiring proof of either vaccination or a negative test.
So, it’s all over the place.
And what if you’re traveling from one place within Europe to another? And since you still need a negative test in order to return home, do you know where to get that?
