National Plan for Vacation Day Celebration

National Plan for Vacation Day Celebration

Honestly, sometimes the made-up holidays are the best ones. We can get behind National Pi(e) Day (March 14), and Romance Awareness Month (August), and especially Do Something Nice Day (October 5). But right now, with so much pent up wanderlust, we think that today — National Plan for Vacation Day — is the holiday we need the most.

So, if you hadn’t yet been keyed into the magic of this particular holiday, let us give you a few fun ideas for a traditional National Plan for Vacation Day celebration.

Decorate Your National Plan for Vacation Day Tree.

We know—you just took your Christmas Tree down a couple of weeks ago. But we’re not asking you to put up a pine tree! Oh no! The traditional National Plan for Vacation Day Tree isn’t a conifer. It’s a palm tree! So, put up your coconut tree, date palm, or palmetto tree in your living room (if a live tree can’t be found, you can buy an artificial tree), and decorate it by hanging miniature bottles of Captain Morgan and twinkling lights from the tree. Pro tip: If you don’t have lights that twinkle, drink the Captain Morgan, and it’ll create the same effect.

Prepare a National Plan for Vacation Dinner, with All the Trimmings!

We’re not talking about a Turkey dinner with sweet potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce. This is a feast of all of the foods and drink that you only allow yourself to eat while you’re on vacation! Maybe that means that Dry January ends a little early. Or maybe you’ll be making Vietnamese street food. Perhaps you’ll pretend that you’re at a bruch buffet at a five-star hotel and set up an omelette station in one corner of your dining room! The possibilities are limitless. The point is, you just have to indulge in delicious food, and pretend that you’re on vacation.

Enjoy your vacation. Put on your swimsuit and relax, okay?

Put on Your Swimsuit and Knock on Your Neighbors’ Doors Asking For Candy.

Okay, there’s no trick-or-treating for National Plan for Vacation Day. I just made that one up, because I thought it was funny. The rest of these are totally real traditions, though.
