Well, this was a pleasant surprise!

If you’re following us on social media, you’ll know that we’ve spent the past four weeks on an epic road trip adventure, which we’ve been calling the H-TEAR (Huckleberry Travel Epic Adventure Roadtrip). That trip had us leaving New York, passing through the Mid-west to visit friends and families, then heading to the Dakotas and the Mountain West for National Parks, incredible wildlife and gorgeous scenery.

And then, on our way back east, we stopped in Wichita, Kansas, to meet up with friends (who are also clients) for dinner. At dinner, two of our friends who rescue dogs, mentioned that there was a young French bulldog who was about to come to them in need of a home, and would we be interested?

Yes. Yes, we were interested.

We woke up in Wichita the next morning and thought, ‘Well, if he’s going to be available to go to his new home in a week or so, maybe we should just extend our trip?’ So, that’s what we did. We drove back and forth across the middle of the country, stopping to see family in Ohio (and do laundry), before returning to Kansas to pick the little guy up, once we got the word that he was friendly and healthy.

Cooper was in a home with other dogs and he was getting into scuffles with another dog—a much larger dog who wasn’t backing down from the challenges that our little 28-lb guy was putting up for him. We know that Cooper was very much loved in his first home, and that re-homing him was a very difficult thing for his first mom to do. But we’re so grateful that she made that decision for him. Because he’s just the best. Cute as a button. Loves to cuddle. And very, very chill.

Cooper drove home with us on the last leg of H-TEAR. Sometime’s he’d sit in the lap of whichever of us wasn’t driving, but mostly, he’d curl up in his car bed, which we picked up on the road. Now we’re home after 28 days on the road. Cooper’s settling into his new digs, comfortably, and we’ve got a new mascot (and best friend).
