"let them all talk" teleparty!

The new Stephen Soderbergh film, Let Them All Talk, premiered on HBO last week, and, while we haven’t seen it yet, we’re excited about it, because it’s set — and was filmed — aboard the Queen Mary 2 , Cunard’s iconic luxury ocean liner.

The film stars Meryl Streep, Diane Wiest and Candace Bergen, and since we haven’t yet watched it, we can’t tell you what it’s about, really — except that it involved a classic transatlantic crossing. But we’re planning on watching it this weekend, and we’d love it if you watched it with us! Oh, heck. If you need to know more—here’s the trailer.

Obviously, we can’t rent out a movie theater to take all of our clients for a private screening, but we can host a TeleParty! Here’s how it’s going to work. On Saturday, December 19, 2020 we’ll all join a Zoom call to quickly say “hello” to folks. On that Zoom Call, we’ll basically just be checking in to make sure that everyone’s got the right set-up to watch together (you’ll need to prep for that, first), and only if you’re on that Zoom, will you get the invitation to the TeleParty. Then, we’ll all disconnect from the Zoom call and log on to the TeleParty, where we can watch the movie and chat with each other in the sidebar.

First of all, you’ll need to set up your computer to use Teleparty. You’ll need a couple of things in order to participate:

  • A subscription to HBO Max. We’re not doing any copyright infringement, here — you’ll need access to HBO Max to watch the film. It’s just the way this works.

  • A desktop or laptop computer with the Google Chrome internet browser. The TeleParty won’t work on Safari or other browsers, so you’ll need to be on Google Chrome

  • You’ll need to have the TeleParty browser extension (formerly “NetflixParty”) downloaded and installed on your computer. We’re putting a little video tutorial in this post, below, so that you can do that easily.

  • The ability to log onto our Zoom call, where we’ll give you the invite URL to our TeleParty. (And if you haven’t been on Zoom, yet — we’re very curious about how you’ve managed to survive the past ten months, but that’s a whole other conversation). You can RSVP by sending an email to us.

Here’s the way to download the browser extension:

Okay! Now, all you need to do is zoom-in to our Zoom call on Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern/Noon Pacific. We’ll say hi, briefly to everyone, and our hope would be that by 3:30/12:30, we’ll have everyone set up to go. We’ll be able to give a limited explanation of how to participate in the party, but really—if you don’t have an HBO Max subscription, and if you haven’t already downloaded and installed the TeleParty extension—it’s going to be difficult for you to participate. After all, we’re not tech support, and we won’t be able to see what you’re seeing on your computer. So, our best advice would be to make sure you’re set up well in advance of the Zoom call, so that when you’re on the call, and we send you the link to the TeleParty, you won’t be scrambling to log in, and you won’t miss out on any of the fun!

So, are you ready to join? Just RSVP by clicking the button below, and we’ll send you an invite to the Zoom meeting, where you can say “hi” to us, and so that we can send you the TeleParty invite!
