3 things to do in 2020
2010’s going to be a big year in event travel. If you’re looking to have a truly exceptional trip, to do something that isn’t possible to do next year, and wasn’t a possibility last year, we’ve got ideas for you! Here are our top 3 special event trips in 2020!
1. OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY.
Since 1634, the residents of the quaint German village of Oberammergau have performed a spectacular Passion Play, which they stage just once every 10 years. Keeping a pledge made nearly 400 years ago, this reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ is regarded as the most important passion play in the world. This event is so popular, and the town of Oberammergau is so small, that availability might be difficult at this late date (we were urging people to book nearly two years ago!) but if you’re committed to seeing the passion play this year, give us a call, and we’ll see what we can do!
2. TOKYO SUMMER OLYMPICS
We were fielding inquiries about the Tokyo Olympics a while ago, but the truth is, tickets aren’t actually available to purchase that far in advance. So, if you want to go to Tokyo to see your favorite event live in person, we’d love to send you to Japan! And, while you’re there, why not take time to explore the country in depth by getting outside of the main Tokyo-Kyoto well-traveled route. We’ve got some incredible itineraries that can show you the real Japan that most tourists don’t experience, but you can also pair that with gymnastics, track and field, volleyball, or new sports like sport climbing, surfing and skateboarding!
3. DUBAI WORLD EXPO 2020
We visited Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2019, and it was absolutely fascinating. If you’ve ever thought about exploring this part of the world, 2020 might be the ideal time to make the trip. Dubai is hosting the إكسبو ٢٠٢٠ (hint: that means the 2020 World Expo) with the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.” The Expo is organized around a central plaza, entitled Al Wasl, enclosed by three large themed “districts.” Each one is dedicated to one of the sub-themes of Expo 2020 – Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability. With 135 different countries exhibiting at the Expo, it’d sort of be like taking a trip around the world, but all in one place!
So, what do you think? Ready to plan an epic journey to a special event during this year? We’d love to talk to you about that. Just drop us a line, and we’ll get started!
