This is a big week. We’re in Seattle to attend the Ensemble Travel Group conference. Ensemble Travel Group is a consortium of independent travel advisors who use their collective buying power to leverage value for our clients when they travel. But our membership in Ensemble does so much more than just get us preferred pricing and added amenities for travelers who book with us. We’re also able to use our membership in Ensemble to do some good in the world. Case in point: the theme of the Ensemble Travel Group Conference this year is “Travel with a Purpose”—focusing on travel that’s sustainable. Economically sustaiable. Socially sustainable. And, of course, environmentally sustainable.

We’re very proud to have forged some terrific relationships with suppliers who share those values by supporting worthwhile projects like The Ocean Cleanup.

What’s The Ocean Cleanup, you ask? Well, check it out:

The great thing about it is, this project is actually working!

One of our preferred travel partners, Globus Family of Brands, is a big supporter of The Ocean Cleanup. Globus operates group tours under the Globus and Cosmos nameplates, but also is the parent company of Avalon Waterways, which has some gorgeous river cruise itineraries. They also run Monograms, which is a great option for independent travelers; you get the pricing benefits of a group tour, with the ability to travel independently. We love Globus Family of Brands, but we love them even more because of their support for projects like The Ocean Cleanup.

Part of their support is that whenever a traveler opts to receive electronic documents, rather than paper itineraries, Globus will make a donation to The Ocean Cleanup. And since Huckleberry Travel’s values align with the idea of sustainable travel, we’re jumping on the bandwagon. From now, until the end of the year, for any of our clients who book with Globus, Cosmos, Monograms or Avalon Waterways, and who choose to receive their documents electronically, we’ll make a donation to The Ocean Cleanup, as well.
