We recently returned from a luxury polar expedition with one of our newest expedition cruise partners — Aurora Expedition. It was an epic journey from Iceland, then north of the Arctic Circle, to Svalbard, the northernmost inhabited place on the planet! It was an incredible expedition, and if you’d like to experience it, we’d love to send you there. If you find yourself in the remote Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, there are three captivating experiences that you absolutely must have.

1. Embark on a mesmerizing wildlife excursion.

As one of the world's most remarkable wild places, Svalbard is home to polar bears, whales, seals, arctic fox, walrus, reindeer, and a huge variety of seabirds. If we send you on a polar expedition like ours, you’ll get to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. We were fortunate to see polar bears on nearly every day of our expedition cruise!

2. Explore awe-inspiring glaciers.

If you’ve been on an Alaska cruise, you’ve no doubt been awestruck by the magnificence of the glaciers that abound. Well, we’re here to tell you that Alaska’s got nothin’ on Svalbard. On our expedition sailing, we passed glaciers that dwarfed the largest glaciers we’d seen elsewhere. We spent one entire zodiac cruise alongside a glacier that was eleven miles wide! As it calved we saw beluga whales in the water nearby

3. Delve into Svalbard's rich history.

What led people to ever decide to live in this remote, desolate place? What’s the deal with the people who embarked on expeditions to the North Pole from Svalbard? What’s it like to live there year ‘round today? Visit the settlements of Longyearbyen and Barentsburg and you can immerse yourself in the unique culture of these resilient communities while discovering the intriguing stories behind the islands' past.

Svalbard is a true haven for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts alike, offering an unforgettable experience framed by pristine Arctic wilderness.

If you’d like to talk to us about doing your own Arctic expedition to Svalbard, we’d love to tell you more. Just drop us a line!
