don't freak out about UK visas

Thomas Carpenter
don't freak out about UK visas

Effective January 8, 2025, all U.S. citizens transiting through or traveling to the United Kingdom for tourism, family visits, business meetings, conferences, or short-term study for 6 months or less will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to travel.

This is not a big deal.

We repeat: this is not a big deal.

Here’s what you need::

  • the passport you will travel with - not a photocopy or digital passport

  • access to your emails

  • a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay

You will need to upload or take photos of the:

  • passport

  • face of the person applying

And here’s how to do it:

First: Go to the website.

OR

Download the app on the App Store

OR

Download the app on Google Play

Second: Fill it out and upload the stuff.

Third: Pay £10

This will take you maybe ten minutes, tops. Once you’ve done it, you’re good for two years.

Again, this is not a big deal. You should not freak out. And you definitely shouldn’t put off or delay planning your trip to the UK because someone told you this was a big deal.

We’re happy to help you plan your trip. And we’ll remind you of this requirement. And we’ll also remind you that this is not a big deal. Let’s go to the UK, Everybody!
