machu picchu and galápagos
We’re traveling with our clients starting this week on not one, but two trips-of-a-lifetime. We’ve lined up back-to-back private groups to Machu Picchu, and then then, right afterward, to the Galápagos Islands. Some of our travelers are joining us for one of the legs, but others are doing both trips in sequence. We’ve arranged for a one-day Inca Trail hike for those who are up for a more active adventure, and in the Galápagos, we’ve chartered a brand-new catamaran that’s been purpose-built for the Galápagos Archipelago.
Peru, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley.
Simply put, Machu Picchu is one of those places that every single traveler should experience at least once in their lives. Perched on a ridge high above the Sacred Valley and protected from the invading Spaniards, it survives to this day as the best-preserved relic of Inca civilization. And while it’s commonly referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas,” the Incas themselves always knew where it was. Thankfully, their descendants have opened it up to the rest of us to tour, explore, learn, and tap into the unbelievable calm this sacred place stirs in those who come here. For a so-called lost city, it’s a great place to find yourself.
We’re also going to be visiting the archaeological remnants of an Incan agricultural experiment, the salt pans of Las Salinerias, and some really meaningful visits to local communities, where we’ll learn about the Andean way of life.
But, of course, we can’t forget about Machu Picchu. It’s a bucket-list destination, for sure, and the travelers who are opting-in to the one-day Inca Trail hike will have the life-changing experience of entering Machu Picchu through the Gate of the Sun — just as the ancient Incans did!
Ecuador and The Galápagos Archipelago
Millenia of isolation from mankind has bred a fascinating diversity of plant, animal, and marine life among the Galápagos Islands. We’re going to discover these islands for ourselves aboard G Adventures’ brand new catamaran, the Reina Silvia Voyager, equipped with luxurious amenities for a comfortable and convenient sailing during our eight days exploring the central and western Galápagos. Spot iguanas and flamingoes on the green and white-sand beaches of Punta Cormorant, witness abundant marine life while snorkelling in Punta Vicente Roca, and make friends with giant sea tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz. Exploring the Galápagos has never been so easy and inspiring.
It’s yet another trip-of-a-lifetime, and our travelers are in for an authentic, immersive and sustainable travel experience.
As the world opens up, we know that people are eager to visit those destinations that might have seemed out-of-reach, difficult or complicated a few years ago. We think that now is the absolute best time to start planning your once-in-a-lifetime trips and to check them off your list. The destinations are open, but right now, they’re remarkably uncrowded. This might be the best time to see Machu Picchu or the Galápagos without crowds, and safe in the knowledge that you’re not contributing to overtourism of destinations that might be threatened.
