5 romantic vacations
Today is the perfect time to book a romantic vacation for your sweetheart. We decided to take the occasion to look into some of the most romantic offerings available from some of our favorite travel providers. Here are our top choices for travel lovers who are also traveling lovers.
An Overwater Bungalow
It used to be that you had to go to the Maldives or Bora Bora to stay in a fabulously romantic overwater bungalow. Not anymore. One of our preferred luxury all-inclusive resort companies in the Caribbean, Sandals, has gorgeous private overwater villas at many of their 5-star resorts. Just look!
These resorts in Jamaica and St. Lucia, feature decks floating above turquoise waters, see-through glass floors for ocean viewing, a Tranquility Soaking Tub, an over-the-water hammock for two and a private infinity pool. If you're looking for true 5-star all-inclusive luxury, you can't do better than this.
Paris
Maybe it's an obvious choice, but there's a reason for that. Paris is the epitome of European romance. Strolling hand-in-hand along the Left Bank, drinking champagne atop the Eiffel Tower, a sunset cruise on the Seine with your sweetheart--the romantic moments go on and on!
And here's a thought--if you're looking for the perfect place to pop the question, could you imagine any better place to do it than Paris? Or, if you're already engaged, Paris is the perfect honeymoon. Our preferred provider, Delta Vacations has some terrific options in Paris, and with the perfect charming hotel, the romance is virtually guaranteed.
Wine Country
What is it about traveling to a wine region that's so incredibly romantic? And we're not just talking about Napa and Sonoma. We have such a phenomenal range of wine tours from our travel providers, that it'd be hard to choose between them. The Loire Valley in France, the port wine quintas in Portugal's Duoro Valley, Mendoza in Argentina, New Zealand's Marlborough region, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch in South Africa are just a few of the romantic wine regions you could explore.
And the fun isn't limited to wine tasting. These are some of the most gorgeous places in the world, with beautiful vistas, lovely vineyards and rustic wine lodges. Whether you're biking through the vineyards, or enjoying a picnic on the banks of the river, these vacations are unbelievably romantic.
A Romantic River Cruise
The spectacular Active Discovery river cruises from one of our preferred travel providers, Avalon Waterways, provide so many opportunities for romance, it's hard to know where to begin.
The Rhine has been synonymous with romance for centuries, but the beautiful blue Danube is equally stunning. Or maybe you'd like to see the tulip fields of the Netherlands this Spring. (We checked, and there's still space available in April if you act fast). Or, for a more exotic experience, Avalon sails the Mekong, through Southeast Asia, and the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar.
A Luxury Yacht Vacation
Crystal Cruises is consistently voted the top luxury cruise line, and we're sure that one of the reasons is because of their intimate yacht cruises aboard the Crystal Esprit. So much is included on these itineraries--butler service, use of kayaks and jet skis, wine and spirits, shore excursions--that they're truly a fantastic value. And, since the yacht is so small--no more than 62 guests on any sailing--they're able to go to smaller ports in the Caribbean, where you'd never find a mega-ship docking.
Imagine finding a secluded beach with no one else around, having a romantic day with sun and sand, and then returning to your boutique yacht for Michelin-star level cuisine, and a relaxing massage. Sound romantic? Of course it does!
We've got lots of other ideas, too. If you're thinking of planning a romantic vacation, or even a honeymoon or destination wedding, let us know. We'd love to help!
