independence day aboard the queen mary 2

This is a spectacular way to spend Independence Day. Enjoy the freedom to bring as much luggage as you like on this roundtrip Canada and New England voyage that treats you to an early morning departure in Boston and days ashore in Halifax and Newport.

Itinerary:

Day 1: New York, New York

Whether you know it as the ‘Big Apple’ or the ‘City That Never Sleeps’, New York is a shoppers’ paradise, crammed full of exceptional sights and experiences, and pulsing with a palpable energy. This morning we’ll meet up in Brooklyn and board our luxury ocean liner for a fabulous week touring Canada and New England!

Day 2: At Sea

With time at sea the choice, as always with Cunard, is yours. There is as much or as little to do as you please, with more possibilities than you have time to discover.

Day 3: Halifax, Nova Scotia

A star-shaped fortress welcomes you to this fascinating city. Here you can stand beside the visionary Sir Samuel Cunard himself, or rather the bronze statue that presides over his hometown waterfront. Halifax gardens is a must-see in the capital of Nova Scotia. It’s a tranquil tapestry of manicured lawns, winding paths and iron railings, crowned by an ornate Victorian bandstand.

Day 4: At Sea

Afternoon tea? A visit to the on-board Planetarium? Dancing lessons? Fencing? Shuffleboard? There’s so much to do on board!

Days 5-6: Boston, Massachusetts

What better place to spend the 4th of July than Boston! Located in a natural harbor full of significant historic sites including The Freedom Trail, a visit here is truly historic. And we’ll be docked in that harbor overnight for all of the Independence Day Festivities!

Discover tide-turning history at the Boston Tea Party ship, stop by TV’s famous Cheers bar where everybody knows your name or, for the simple pleasure of retail therapy, visit Boston’s many shops.

Day 7: Newport, Rhode Island

Extravagance is the theme among the fabulous millionaire mansions built in Renaissance, Rococo, French and Victorian style atop Newport’s cliffs. Its yacht-filled harbor has hosted the America’s Cup.

Closer to sea level, the city’s streets and sandy shores offer a fine array of picturesque locations for taking in the bracing Rhode Island sea breeze.

Day 8: New York, New York.

And we’re back! Consider taking in some of the city’s sites before heading home. We can help with that!
